Bemidji, Minn.—Great news for anglers who live for the tug of broad-shouldered panfish on the line: a trio of perennial soft plastics producers from Bro’s Bug Collection has been sweetened with the magical scents and flavors of Northland’s IMPULSE® Instinctual Attractant.
Designed by panfishing icon Brian “Bro” Brosdahl, the collection was hatched back in 2008 with an eye on extreme realism, convenience, and the pursuit of hump-headed bluegills, crappies, and perch. The hand-sculpted assemblage of insect-mimicking jigs and softbaits quickly created swarms of smiling panfish fans. Once pigeonholed to the ice fishing scene, they quickly proved themselves equally deadly on herds of oversized, open-water pans as well.
For 2015, Northland ups the ante in panfish production by infusing three of the collection’s jig-and-plastic standouts—the Bro’s Bloodworm, Scud Bug, and Slug Bug—with deadly IMPULSE® attractant. “IMPULSE® encourages fish to hit hard and hang on tight,” explains Brosdahl. The 1½-inch IMPULSE® Rigged Bloodworm sports a tapered, undulating, “soft and chewy” segmented body that swims and shivers like the real thing. Spanning 1¼ inches with a segmented torso, creeping feet, and quivering mouse tail, the IMPULSE® Rigged Slug Bug turns non-committal panfish into involuntary strikers. And measuring an even inch, the IMPULSE® Rigged Scud Bug features a segmented crustacean scud body complete with lifelike legs and a hinged flutter tail.
