4 Early Ice WALLEYE Tactics for Success: Brad Hawthorne and Nick Lindner share their top four tactics that will help you catch more walleyes on early ice this season.
Jigging Spoons
Glass Buck-Shot® Spoon offers a new sound for ice anglers. The Glass Buck-Shot® Spoon is constructed of a lead frame, features a high-pitched glass rattle and is entirely encased in a clear hard resin. The resin’s contact with the rattle transfers sonic vibrations to the exterior of the spoon triggering fish to strike. The exterior resin also looks like a natural, semi translucent baitfish while protecting the paint against scratches and chips. The new Glass Buck-Shot® Spoon comes in three sizes 3/32, ⅛ and ¼ and 10 colors.
Buck-Shot® Coffin Spoon features an internal brass rattle and a loud Kicker-Tail Fin that makes it our loudest spoon yet. Its flat-sided profile produces a tumbling action and its angled body reflects light in unique ways. Available in 4 sizes (1/8 oz, 3/16 oz, 1/4 oz, and 3/8 oz.) and 12 distinct fish-catching colors, including glow, UV and metallic patterns, as well as custom colors.
Ice Jigs
Puppet® Minnow — a versatile & deadly glide jig that darts upward on the lift and swims in a semi-circle during freefall. Vertically jig on bottom or higher to call in fish. Available in 15 different colors including, glow, UV and metallic patterns, as well as popular custom colors like Wonderbread.
Forage Minnow® Jig — flashes and flutters up strikes from walleyes, trout, jumbo panfish and other predators. It produces an incredibly tempting minnow action with a variety of jig strokes when tipped with a minnow head or other live bait but is equally effective in dead sticking applications paired with a lightly hooked live minnow.
