Mid Summer Bass

By Garrett Haglin

The weeds are high and so is the water temperature. With water surface temps seen as high as 81 degrees, the largemouth bass have been sticking to the thick cover in an attempt to find shade. Three main tactics used to catch these fish in heavy cover is by throwing a wacky rigged 5” Impulse Dipstick along weed lines in 4-8 feet of water, flipping a Jungle Jig with a craw or creature trailer under docks, trees or punching in thick lily pads, and throwing a top water buzz bait over the tops of thick weeds just barely breaking the surface of the water.
