Joey Buttram is the owner of Willowpine Outdoors, a media production company that focuses on podcasts, videos, articles, and other sources of online journalism. Joey is an avid walleye and crappie angler, but he grew up traveling the US with his Father, Grandfather, and Uncle fishing some of the premier largemouth bass lakes in the country. He’s boated largemouth bass on such lakes as Tohopekaliga, Toledo Bend, Guntersville, Eufaula, and countless others. As a teenager, his relationship with walleye began while wading the inlet and outlet creeks of Cataract Lake. The obsession grew from there, and he now targets walleye on such lakes as Brookville, Lake Erie, Lake Monroe, Hamlin Lake, Heritage Lake, and other quality walleye fisheries around the mid-west.

Joey began competitively fishing in 2016 with USA Bassin’. Quickly knowing that the bass game was not for him, he began to seek out walleye events out of state as central Indiana didn’t have a walleye club. Luckily in 2017, the Indiana Walleye Anglers Association was born, a TWF series built as a qualifier to the NTC. In 2018, he’ll be competing in other TWF events with IWAA, Western Ohio Walleye Club, and Michiana Walleye Association.

When he’s not fishing, Joey enjoys time on and off the water with his son Archer Hamlin Buttram. In addition to family time, Joey spends a lot of fall hours chasing waterfowl and whitetail deer. To help pay for all his time on the road fishing, Joey works for Combustion Systems, Inc. an industrial steam company doing inside sales, marketing, and graphic design.
